Paid surveys pay low more
often than they pay high. And if a survey site says it
pays cash for some surveys, and drawings for the rest, be
assured that the cash payments are likely lower, and that
most of the surveys will not pay in cash.
Points systems are also frequently
a waste of time. One site routinely promises 10 points
for a 20 minute survey. That equals half a cent a minute
at their conversion rate. That is not worth my time! Of
course they also say you will get entered into a drawing
for $10,000... that means $100 to 100 people. Out of
thousands who are taking the survey!
Read the fine print, and do a
little math before you decide what is worth the time and
what is not. I cannot definitively apply a per hour
compensation amount to the time I spend writing or
designing my websites. Often I will work for a month or
two on something before I ever see any sign that it is
going to work. In fact, there is usually a fairly long
delay between doing something, and seeing results. But
I’d rather spend my excess time working on this than
wasting it on a survey that will pay me only a few
pennies.
I joined about 10 different paid
survey sites initially. Of those, I get regular
invitations from two of them, each usually offering a
drawing as compensation, so I don’t bother. One
other sends occasional cash survey invites, which I
almost never qualify for in the pre-screening. I did
finish a $25 survey today though, and do not know whether
I will actually get paid. Because once you finish, there
are still more conditions to be met.

Most have a delay between the
survey and the payment. It can be two months or so. And
nearly all have a “minimum payment amount”. In
other words, they don’t pay you until your earnings
reach a certain amount - and that can be anywhere between
$10 and $50. And after joining 10 company programs, I
cannot possibly remember which ones have what minimum
amounts! So it could be MONTHS before I get enough to get
a check.
Some companies now pay via Paypal
also. It may be a requirement, or an option.
I have determined that from now on,
I’ll only apply to those that pay cash, or a select
few that do merchandise that I am particularly interested
in. Otherwise I’ll just put my time into other
things that have a better chance of actually paying
off.
