My sister and I have each
done a large amount of babysitting in different
circumstances. She ran a daycare, while I took in
children in a more informal setting. She remodeled
her garage to create a playroom, complete with
hand-built play equipment. Both of us had good
experiences, and a few bad ones. The association
with children was positive, and the interaction
with my children was also good.
Minimal investment, requires
licensing in most states, and home is always on
display. Regulations vary state to state, but some
states still allow payment from welfare programs to
registered but unlicensed childcare providers.
Qualifying is simple, you do need to obtain Red
Cross First Aid and CPR certification, and have a
police background check. Regular paperwork is due,
but you may also be able to get reimbursed for
meals.
