My father-in-law brought his
office home. Bringing an office from space downtown
to the home can save you the cost of maintaining
the office, but it also cuts some of your business
that is brought in by a visible office. We
experienced that when we brought our office home.
People would no longer stop in when they were doing
their grocery shopping, and they felt like stopping
by our house was more of an intrusion than stopping
by our store. The same is true of insurance orother at home office type jobs.
That said, if you work just a little harder at getting clients, and
then provide a good enough service to keep them, it
can be a good way to keep expenses low, while
combining the job with the family. Insurance
requires training and licensing in every state, and
some companies do require that you travel for the
job, others do not.
