This one is not a mom! Our
neighbor creates leatherwork from his home. He is a
senior who is homebound much of the time, so he
does this to occupy his time and to supplement his
income. He makes belt buckles, chaps, moccassins,
wallets, purses, watchbands, and other items. The
chaps sell for a very high price, and when marketedproperly, sell very well.
This business requires an investment in leather, a heavy duty leather sewing
machine, and some other specialized equipment. It
can be done in a single room, or part of your
living space. Marketing can be done through craft
shops, at events, or online. The manufacturer must
be skilled, because badly done items will not sell
- This was proven by another neighbor who decided
to do this for a living, but unfortunately did not
know how to sew a seam that did not wobble - her
items looked so sloppy that they were not suitable
for sale anywhere.
